Bruce Lee (Born Lee Jun-Fan) was born on November 27, 1940 to father Lee Hoi-chuen, a Cantonese opera singer, in the Chinatown of San Francisco, but was raised by family in Hong Kong. Due to his father's film connections, Bruce starred in several films as a child actor. He attended the University of Washington in Seattle, USA for college, which is when he began teaching martial arts. Bruce studied Wing Chun (under the famous Ip Man), tai chi, boxing, and often participated in street fights in Hong Kong. Only one video of Bruce participating in tournaments survives, since it was rare for him to participate and street fights don't exactly get a lot of press coverage.
Lee died on July 20, 1973 at the age of 32.
